Unveiling of the study on abuse in private seniors’ residences (PSRs): Launch of awareness-raising tools
The study was initiated by the Comité des droits des aînés de l’Agglomération de Longueuil, of which Giselly Fragoso, a CAAP Montérégie advisor, is a member. Researcher Mélanie Couture, holder of the Research Chair on Elder Abuse at the Université de Sherbrooke, led this study in partnership with CAAP Montérégie. General Manager Myriam Noiseux and PSR Program Manager Andrée Rochon, along with Consultant Giselly Fragoso, actively contributed to this research by sharing their expertise on the issues facing seniors in PSRs.
In concluding her study of elder abuse in Longueuil PSRs, Mélanie Couture stresses the importance of raising awareness among RPA residents of their legal obligations, including the Act to Combat Elder Abuse and Any Other Major Person in a Vulnerable Situation.
