About CAAP Montérégie
The Centre d’assistance et d’accompagnement aux plaintes Montérégie (CAAP Montérégie) is a recognized community organization whose mission is to inform, assist and support users of the health and social services network in exercising their rights and handling their complaints. We support tenants in private seniors’ residences (RPAs), their families and loved ones in their efforts to resolve disputes and disagreements with their landlords.
A key player in the community and a partner of the public network, CAAP Montérégie works daily to promote accessibility, equity and respect for users’ rights. In a context of evolution and consolidation of its practices, the organization is looking for a committed, mobilizing and rigorous General Manager.
Role overview
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the General Manager is responsible for the overall direction and management of CAAP Montérégie’s activities, in accordance with the strategic orientations established by the Board.
The incumbent plans, organizes, directs and controls all of the organization’s operations, while ensuring sound governance, management of human and financial resources, and the CAAP’s influence within the community and the health and social services network.
Main responsibilities
Governance and relations with the Board of Directors
- Implement the policies, orientations and decisions of the Board of Directors.
- Ensure effective, ongoing liaison with board members.
- Act as a resource person for all CAAP activities.
- Compile, analyze and present strategic and operational information to support decision-making.
Strategic direction and operations management
- Develop and deploy an action plan aligned with strategic orientations.
- Supervise day-to-day operations to ensure the efficiency and quality of services offered.
- Ensure that premises, furniture and equipment meet the organization’s operating needs.
Human resources management
- Assess staffing needs and recruit employees.
- Apply human resources management policies, procedures and practices.
- Carry out annual staff appraisals.
- Manage, support and develop team skills.
- Create and maintain a healthy, dynamic and motivating work environment.
Financial and administrative management
- Prepare and present annual budget forecasts.
- Administer the organization’s funds within authorized budgets.
- Monitor cash flows and produce financial reports.
- Prepare and submit grant applications, notably to the MSSS.
- Approve expenses in accordance with CAAP purchasing policy.
- Ensure the application of accounting procedures recognized by the external auditor.
Representation and partnerships
- Represent CAAP Montérégie at community and concertation activities.
- Develop and maintain meaningful ties with community organizations and partners in the health and social services network.
- Coordinate CAAP’s promotional and visibility activities with the public and regional partners.
Profile required
Training and experience
- University degree in community action, social work, administration, NPO management or related field.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar executive, coordination or management position.
- Experience in a community environment and working with a board of directors (an important asset).
Skills and abilities
- Mobilizing leadership and autonomy.
- Administrative rigor and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage several files simultaneously and work under pressure.
- Ability to inspire collaboration, commitment and creativity.
- Good command of IT tools and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent command of French (oral and written); English is an asset.
